New Hampshire Babe Ruth Softball

NH Special 16U Program

New Hampshire Babe Ruth State 16U Purpose:

To provide a more varied and competitive season for 16U Leagues (13 – 16) and to serve as a statewide league for teams with limited or no local options.
The focus is on small leagues which do not have sufficient 16U teams to have a meaningful schedule. • Compact schedules for teams which can start only in early to mid June due to school schedules are encouraged.
Leagues which wish to enter a single team may do so, even if an All Star team.
The goal is to ensure that all teams will meet the minimum 10 game schedule in order to qualify for the Tournament Trail. The state league may extend through and beyond post season play should there be enough team interest to make that a worthwhile experience for the players.
State Tournaments:
Depending upon numbers, we may have 2 state tournaments for each of the 14 and 16 year old divisions.

If you have a 16U team which needs help putting a schedule together email Don Pfundstein and he will assist you in getting a minimum game schedule. However, due to the number of difficulties, including teams folding after the schedules were carefully developed during 2007, the first step is to try to create your own schedule by reaching out to leagues or specific teams in your area.

Encourage the use of weekend doubleheaders, jamborees and any other reasonable format which will enable teams to build a minimum 10 game schedule. These formats also make more efficient use of travel time and distance. Driving an hour or so to play a single game can be a bummer, but having a fun doubleheader or jamboree makes all the difference in the world. It may not be possible for many teams to start until mid to late June so weekend doubleheaders will play a paramount role.

Simple Rules:

The home team will be responsible for the umpires.
Each team will contribute a new game ball for each game.
Self Sufficient Leagues- We will also need to call on the leagues with a number of 16U teams to help us out by agreeing to play a couple of teams from the state wide program to assist the girls in getting a reasonable number of games.

I look forward to working with all of you.
